Transaction in Own Shares

Pennon Group Plc announces that it has today purchased through Credit Suisse
(Securities) Europe Limited 13,254 ordinary shares at a price of 590 pence per
share.

The purchased shares will all be held in treasury.  Following the above purchase
and non-cancellation of such equity shares, Pennon Group Plc will hold 6,069,465
ordinary shares in treasury and a total of 349,094,809 ordinary shares will be
in issue (excluding shares to be held in treasury).
