HOLDING IN COMPANY



Pennon Group Plc has received notification (by fax dated 1 August 2006) that,
following the recent Share Split of Pennon Group Plc's shares, Ameriprise
Financial Inc and its group, of which Threadneedle Asset Management Holdings
Limited is the ultimate intermediate holding company in the UK, has ceased to
hold a notifiable interest in the Ordinary shares of 1221/10p each in the
Company.  Instead, it holds an interest in 45,457,800 Ordinary shares of 40.7p
each in the Company.
