HOLDING IN COMPANY

Pennon Group Plc has received notification today (by letter dated 2 September
2005) that FMR Corp and its direct and indirect subsidiaries, and Fidelity
International Limited (FIL) and its direct and indirect subsidiaries, both being
non-beneficial holders, and Mr Edward C Johnson 3d, a principal shareholder of
FMR Corp and Fidelity International Limited, hold an interest in 2,912,827
Ordinary shares of £1.11p each in Pennon Group Plc.
