STANDARD LIFE EUROPEAN PRIVATE EQUITY TRUST PLC ('SLEPET')

Board Appointment

The Board of Standard Life European Private Equity Trust PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Taylor as an independent non-executive Director of the Company, with effect from 2 December 2010.

Mr Taylor (49) is a former global head of the Venture Capital Division of 3i Group.  He has extensive experience of the private equity sector, having worked at 3i Group from 1984 until 2008.   He is a member of the Investment Committee of MVM Life Sciences and Chairman of Halycon Hotels and Resorts plc and Tideway Investment Group Limited. He is a former member of the British Venture Capital Association and former Chairman of its Venture Capital Committee.

Mr Taylor currently has no beneficial interests in the shares of the Company.

There are no disclosures required under Section 9.6.13 (1) to (6) of the Financial Services Authority Listing Rules.
