Vicon launches new motion capture software Shōgun

Oxford Metrics plc (LSE: OMG) the international software company servicing government, life sciences, entertainment and engineering markets, is pleased to announce the launch of Shōgun: a new Vicon motion capture software platform.

Vicon will announce the launch of Shōgun at FMX 2017: Europe's most influential conference dedicated to digital visual arts, technologies and business. The all new software - the first from Vicon for the Entertainment industry since 2007 - capitalises on over 30 years of motion capture experience and years of research and development.  It will offer users in the entertainment industry a new level of efficiency and quality, necessary to meet the growing demands of Game, Film and Virtual Reality production.

Designed from the ground up and based on feedback from the industry and customers alike, Shōgun includes a range of innovative new features and capabilities, including:

·      Increased performance, intelligent system monitoring and high fidelity data allow users to make the most of expensive studio time and deliver projects on time and within budget;

·      Live calibration makes data solving easy, visual and immediate. Calibration time can now be reduced from 20 minutes to less than one minute;

·      Unrivalled data quality and unbreakable real-time enable multiple actors to be captured whilst undertaking complex interactions such as folding arms and stunt work;

·      Direct support for all major real-time game engines enhances the pre-visualisation and animation processes by providing direct visualisation of the final scene;

·      An intelligent Data Heat Map feature assists users in capturing very challenging shots by automatically finding and directing users to frames where data may require attention;

·      Users can record data direct to disk meaning on-set review of captured data is almost instantaneous, removing days from the post-production process.

Commenting on the Shōgun launch, Nick Bolton, CEO of Oxford Metrics, said:

"Shōgun is yet another example of how Vicon not only keeps up with the changing demands of the industries it serves, but also actually sets the pace of that change - challenging the definition of what's possible in motion capture. Implementing Shōgun can significantly improve the ability of users to capture, locate and interrogate motion - enhancing the quality and sophistication of the entertainment products they can go on to produce, whilst saving them time and money."
