               ORMONDE MINING PLC ('Ormonde' or 'the Company')
                     CHANGE OF ACCOUNTING REFERENCE DATE



The Board of Ormonde has resolved that the year end accounting date for the
Company be changed from 30 June to 31 December. Consequently an interim report
covering the twelve months ended 30 June, 2001 will be published shortly, and
in any event no later than 31 October, 2001. The next audited annual accounts
of the Company will be made up to 31 December, 2001.
