Old Mutual plc has been informed, by a letter dated 6 July 2001 which was
received today, that Barclays PLC no longer has a notifiable interest through
its subsidiary, Barclays Bank PLC, for the purposes of Part VI of the
Companies Act 1985, in the ordinary share capital of Old Mutual plc.
