Opening of New Office

Numis Corporation PLC 18 January 2001 NUMIS CORPORATION PLC ('Numis') Further expansion includes first regional office in Liverpool Further to the Chairman's statement of 18 December 2000, Numis, the specialist investment bank, is pleased to confirm the opening of its first UK regional office in Liverpool. The office is initially staffed by a highly ranked team of five analysts and salespeople recruited from ING Barings Charterhouse and HSBC, plus appropriate support staff. The team, which is to be integrated with Numis' City based institutional sales, research and trading operations, expands and extends Numis' sector expertise from the current specialities in Financial Services, TMT and Biotechnology to include Retail, Food, Support Services and Packaging. It is planned that the office will grow over time not only adding to these specialist areas, but also to include regional coverage, corporate finance and corporate broking expertise - a perceived gap in the range of locally based services available to growth companies in the North West of England. About those who have joined: In the consumer area Mark Hughes and Iain McDonald have arrived from the No 1 ranked ING Barings Charterhouse Retail team; Mark was additionally ranked No2 Specialist Salesman (all sectors) in the 2000 Primark Extel Survey, and Iain No1 Smaller Companies analyst in the same survey. Andrew Saunders joins them from HSBC where he covered food producers. Paul Jones broadens Numis' coverage further having, at ING Barings Charterhouse, been top ranked in Support Services, whilst Justin Bates' arrival extends the coverage of our already well established Speciality & Other Financials team. All five have been appointed Directors of Numis Securities Ltd, the Group's principal trading subsidiary.
