NORTHERN VENTURE TRUST PLC ('The Company')

PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

The Company announces that on 26 July 2007 it purchased for cancellation under
an existing authority granted by shareholders 20,000 C shares of 75p each in the
market at a price of 82.8p, representing approximately 0.10 per cent of the
Company's issued C share capital.  There remain 20,646,773 C shares in issue.
