                          AGM Statement - 15 May 2002



Nichols plc, the soft drinks, food and foodservice group, have today made the
following statement at the Annual General Meeting:


As noted in our last report and accounts, 2001 was exceptionally challenging.
While domestic trading conditions continue to be tough, we are making headway
and have in place a much strengthened management team to support future growth.



We are continuing to focus on generating greater returns from the substantial
capital expenditure programmes that have taken place across the Group in the
last few years.



Overall, trading to date for the first four months of the year, which includes
the traditionally quieter months, has been in line with last year.  In the
second half we expect to benefit from the new business won by Cabana and Nichols
Foods, in addition to the normal seasonal bias in international trade and at
Stockpack.
