                     Board Appointment



NEXT plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Christos Angelides as an
Executive Director of the Board with effect from 1 August, 2000.

Christos  is  Group  Product Director responsible  for  all aspects of the
Design, Buying and Merchandising of the NEXT Brand.   He reports to Simon
Wolfson, the Managing Director of the NEXT Brand.

Christos,  who  is  37, joined NEXT in 1986  as  a  Trainee Menswear  Buyer. 
He was appointed Menswear Buying Director in  1994  and  broadened  his
experiences  when  he  became Womenswear Buying Director in 1998.

David Jones, Chief Executive, NEXT plc said:
