NEW STAR INVESTMENT TRUST PLC


The Company has today been informed that, following a recent transfer of
Ordinary shares, Jupiter Asset Management Limited is now interested in a total
of 35,399,501 Ordinary shares of 1p each, representing 32.23% of the issued
class of capital (previously 30.53%).


Jupiter Asset Management Limited does not hold any shares beneficially, but
holds them as an investment manager acting on behalf of discretionary clients.


Among the underlying beneficial holders are the following, who hold over 3% of
the issued share capital of that class of capital:

C Crowther                               -           5,250,401 (4.74%)

S Crowther                               -           5,201,401 (4.74%)
