Notification of Major Interests in Shares

Sections 198-202 of the Companies Act 1985 amended by Sections 134(1) to (3) of
the Companies Act 1989.

NMT Group Plc received a notification today, from Friends Ivory & Sime plc on
behalf of its clients, informing it that as a result of a purchase of 1,000,000
shares on 7th February 2002, its clients now have a material interest in
105,441,968 shares representing 12.10% of the Company's issued share capital.
