                        Appointment of UK Distributor

NMT Group PLC ('NMT') is pleased to announce that it has appointed Southern
Syringe Services ('Southern Syringe'), the UK medical device distributor, as
an additional distributor in the UK for the Group's range of safety syringes.

Southern Syringe is one of the leading distributors of medical devices to
hospitals in the UK and is well-known for its high level of customer service.
It has a national sales presence, with distribution depots located throughout
the UK.

The appointment of Southern Syringe as UK distributor for NMT's safety syringe
follows the earlier appointment in February 2001 of Hospital Management &
Supplies ('HM&S'). NMT's products are now being marketed by two of the leading
distributors of medical devices to UK hospitals.

Commenting on today's announcement, Roy Smith, Chief Executive of NMT, said:
