                       Appointment of Finance Director



The Board of NMT Group PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Gerard
Cassels as Group Finance Director.  He takes over from Tony Fletcher, Chief
Operating Officer, who is splitting roles and retains responsibilities for the
day-to-day operations of the Group with specific emphasis on manufacturing and
business development.



Mr Cassels joins from Inveresk PLC, where he has worked since 1993, and has
been Group Finance Director from 1998.  Prior to this, he worked as a Manager
within the Corporate Finance Division of KPMG, Edinburgh.  He is a Scottish
Chartered Accountant and a Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.
He holds an honours degree in Chemical Engineering from Loughborough
University, and a Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Heriot-Watt
University,



He takes up his new position on 20th August 2001.



Commenting on Mr Cassel's appointment, Roy Smith, Chief Executive of NMT said:
