The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc ('RBS') announces that Stephen Hester will become Group Chief Executive and an Executive Director of RBS on 21  November  2008 at which point Sir Fred Goodwin will stand down as Group Chief Executive and as an Executive Director.  Sir Fred Goodwin will remain with the Group until 31 January 2009 to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.

RBS has today received notification from Stephen Hester that he will resign as a Director of The British Land Company PLC, with effect from 15 November 2008.
