Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC 1 February 2001 1 February 2001 THE ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND GROUP APPOINTS NEW DIRECTORS The Royal Bank of Scotland Group today announced the appointment of two new non-executive directors - Peter Sutherland and Bob Scott. Peter Sutherland (54) has been Chairman and Managing Director of Goldman Sachs International since 1995, and is also non-executive Chairman of BP Amoco. He was formally EC Commissioner responsible for Competition Policy and Director General of the World Trade Organisation. Bob Scott (59) was appointed Group Chief Executive of CGNU plc on the merger of CGU and Norwich Union in May 2000. He was previously Group Chief Executive of CGU plc, following the merger in June of Commercial Union and General Accident, where he had been Group Chief Executive since January 1996. Viscount Younger of Leckie, Chairman, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, said: 'We are pleased to have recruited two new directors with the qualities and range of business experience which Peter Sutherland and Bob Scott bring to the business.
