MURRAY INTERNATIONAL TRUST PLC

At a board meeting held yesterday, David Benson (61), Chairman of Charter
European Trust plc, was appointed as a director.  In the UK he is a
non-executive director of BG plc and Daniel Thwaites plc.  He is also Chairman
of the Trustees of the Charities Official Investment Fund.

In the USA, he is a Board member of the Rouse Company and Dover Corporation.

David Benson started his career with the Shell Company and joined Kleinwort
Benson in 1963, becoming Vice Chairman in 1989.

Blaise Hardman, who has been a director since May 1988, has resigned as a
director with effect from 31 December 1999.
