Notification of Major Interests in Shares

Mothercare plc announce that D.C. Thomson & Company Limited have an interest in
the voting rights of Mothercare plc amounting to 8,813,955 ordinary shares of
50p each equivalent to 10.107% of the total voting rights of the Company.

The voting rights were acquired by D.C. Thomson & Company Limited following the
acquisition of Chelsea Stores Holdings Limited by Mothercare plc on 19 June
2007.

Mothercare plc's total voting rights are 87,202,903.
