                     STOREHOUSE BOARD MANAGEMENT CHANGE

Following the completion of the main stage of implementing the group's new
systems infrastructure, overall responsibility for IT, Logistics and Human
Resources will devolve to the operating businesses, Bhs and Mothercare.  As a
consequence, Steve Bedford, group development director, will leave the
business on 9 October 1999.  The group acknowledges the contribution he has
made and wishes him well for the future.
