                     ACQUISITION OF CERAMIC FIBRES BUSINESS


The Morgan Crucible Company plc is pleased to announce that its Insulating
Ceramics division has completed the acquisition of the Vesuvius ceramics fibres
business from Cookson Group plc as announced last month.
