Deployment of Push to Talk service by North American telecommunications company TELUS

Mobile Tornado (AIM: MBT), the instant communications services provider for mobile devices, announces that its Push to Talk (PTT) service has been successfully deployed by a leading North American telecommunications company TELUS. The installation and set-up of the new PTT platform was commenced during the first half of the year, as referenced in the Interims Results announcement 26 September 2013. TELUS recently announced the launch of TELUS link, a next generation PTT service, over its TELUS 4G HSPA and LTE networks as well as Wi-Fi.

The TELUS Link service is an evolution of the legacy Mike service offered by TELUS on the iDEN network. Customers wishing to remain on the iDEN network will continue to be supported but now have the opportunity to transfer to TELUS Link which offers expanded services that are compatible with all major smartphone operating systems.

TELUS Link provides instant 'walkie-talkie' voice communication with an individual or a team as well as standard wireless service, enabling members of a work team to connect in less than one second wherever they are. Customers can also roam in the US and around the world with enhanced coverage via PTT over Wi-Fi. TELUS Link allows Canadian businesses in fields such as construction, transport, energy, utilities and manufacturing to connect quickly on the TELUS 4G network, which now covers 97 per cent of Canada's population.

Mobile Tornado worked closely with TELUS to optimise the solution over 4G networks and Wi-Fi while ensuring inter-operability with the legacy iDEN network. This is the first mobile network operator to transfer from the iDEN network to Mobile Tornado's PTT platform.

Jeremy Fenn, Chief Executive Officer of Mobile Tornado, said: "I am delighted that our instant communication platform installed for TELUS in Canada has launched to customers. This deal will be an important driver for our recurring subscription revenues as more customers in Canada sign up to TELUS Link, and with a significant number of TELUS customers already using PTT services we are confident that we will see a swift migration of these customers onto the new platform. Increasing numbers of mobile network operators are looking to launch instant communication services to their enterprise customers. Given the engagement we now have with major global carriers, we are well placed to capitalise on this momentum."
