             NATIONAL EXPRESS GROUP PLC SHARE REPURCHASE PROGRAMME


National Express Group PLC announces that on 25 May 2006 it purchased 50,000 of
its ordinary shares at a price of 796.696 pence per share. It is intended that
these shares will be held in Treasury.


Following the purchase, National Express Group PLC holds 950,000 of its ordinary
shares in Treasury and has a total of 152,449,923 ordinary shares (excluding
shares held in Treasury) in issue.
