                  MITIE GROUP PLC ('MITIE' or the 'Company')



MITIE announces that Mr John Clifford retired as a director of the Company by
rotation at the Annual General Meeting yesterday and, in anticipation of his
retirement from the Company next year, did not seek re-election. Accordingly
he ceased to be a director of the Company with effect from 20 September 2001.
