MITIE announces that Mr Donald Macpherson, aged 71, will retire as planned as a
non-executive director of the Company on 31 October 2003 after 11 years of
service.


David Ord, Chairman stated 'On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Donald
for his valuable contribution to the development of MITIE and for his service
over the years.'


On the retirement of Mr Macpherson, MITIE announces that Sir John Jennings,
Deputy Chairman of MITIE, will take up the position of Senior Independent
Director.
