                            Appointment of Director


MITIE announces that on Friday 12 July 2002 it appointed Manish Chande a
Non-Executive Director of the Company.

Mr Chande, 46, is a Director of Property Fund Management Plc. He co-founded the
Trillium Group in 1997. Trillium was acquired by Land Securities plc in November
2000. He subsequently became Chief Executive of Land Securities Trillium and a
main board director of Land Securities plc before leaving the Group in early
2002. He has now formed and become Chief Executive of Mountgrange Capital plc.

Mr Chande has no interests in MITIE shares and there are no details required to
be disclosed under paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g) of the FSA Listing Rules.
