Mitie awarded significant new FM contract with Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust

Mitie, the FTSE 250 strategic outsourcing company, has been awarded a contract to deliver soft facilities management (FM) services with Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT), the principal provider of acute care services in Cornwall.

The contract is for an initial seven year period, with a total value in excess of £90m, and has a possible three-year extension.

An extensive range of FM services will be managed by Mitie's Environmental + business and includes hospital cleaning, portering, patient and retail catering, post room services, waste and recycling, linen and laundry, security and the switchboard and helpdesk facility. 

The Trust, which is one of the largest employers in Cornwall, serves a population of approximately 450,000 people from three hospitals in Truro, Penzance and Hayle. Over 600 employees of RCHT will transfer to Mitie as part of the new contract.

Mitie's Environmental + healthcare team is proud to already support some of the UK's largest and best-known NHS trusts and it is this experience, coupled with Mitie's ability to deliver a full suite of soft FM services in-house and under one management team, that helped Mitie to win the contract.
