                                TREASURY SHARES

The Company holds a balance of 747,623 Mitchells & Butlers ordinary shares as
treasury shares following the exercise of savings related options over 10,365
shares at 209p per share.

As a result of the above, the number of shares in issue, excluding shares held
in treasury is 403,032,070 ordinary shares.
