                                TREASURY SHARES

The Company holds a balance of 1,243,982 Mitchells & Butlers ordinary shares as
treasury shares following the exercise of savings related options over 2,028
shares at prices ranging between 169p and 401p per share.

As a result of the above, the number of shares in issue, excluding shares held
in treasury is 402,535,711 ordinary shares.
