addition to the total holding referred to above which has not changed since the
previous announcement of 26 January 2007, Violet Capital Group Ltd now has an
economic interest through contracts for differences (with no voting rights) in a
total of 76,857,471 shares in Mitchells & Butlers plc, representing 19.05% of
the ordinary shares in the Company. This economic interest is over and above
their interest in 3% of the ordinary shares in the Company with voting rights
attached.
