                         DIRECTORS INTERESTS IN SHARES



Following the separation of the retail and hotels business of Six Continents
PLC, the InterContinental Hotels Group PLC ESOP Trust (the 'Trust') yesterday
sold 75,360 shares in Mitchells & Butlers plc ('MAB') at £2.326054 per share.
The Trust no longer holds MAB shares.


The Executive Directors of MAB (T Clarke, K Naffah, M Bramley and A Hughes), as
former employees of Six Continents PLC are deemed to be technically interested
in the above sale.
