Board Appointment

Mitchells & Butlers plc (the 'Company') announces that Douglas E McMahon has today been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with immediate effect, acting as a nominated shareholder representative of Piedmont Inc. (an investment vehicle of Joe Lewis). Piedmont Inc. owns 93,047,373 shares in the Company, representing 22.8% of the voting rights in issue.  Mr McMahon will be the second nominated shareholder representative of Piedmont Inc. alongside Mr Richard McGuire, who was appointed on 16 July 2009. 

Mr McMahon is Managing Director of Tavistock Group.  Mr McMahon has two decades of marketing experience, previously serving as chairman and CEO of Publicis New York, and earlier as General Manager of J. Walter Thompson New York.  Mr McMahon was also Chief Marketing Officer at Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC).

Mitchells & Butlers confirms that there is no further information about Mr McMahon requiring disclosure under paragraphs 9.6.13 (2) to (6) of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
