YooMedia to pilot Trigger Radio on BBC Five Live
More than 2,000 listeners to take part in pioneering two-way SMS initiative for
radio
YooMedia plc ('YooMedia') is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement
with BBC Radio Five Live to launch an interactive SMS pilot on 606, the popular
football discussion programme.
606 Superfan is a new two-way SMS polling and voting initiative that will allow
the show's presenters to instantly gauge the opinions of football fans and feed
the results directly into the content of the programme live on air. The pilot,
to launch on 5 May 2004 and run during the last two weeks of the Premier League
season, will involve more than 2,000 supporters from the 20 Premiership football
clubs. This will be the first time that a radio programme will use two-way SMS
texting to communicate with its listeners during a live broadcast.
YooMedia will be using its mobile business subsidiary TriggerTV for the pilot
and SMS carrier mBlox for the deployment of mobile messages. TriggerTV's
technology allows synchronous and real-time interaction with TV and radio
programmes and wireless devices and guarantees the delivery of high volume
messages within a specified time period.
YooMedia successfully trialed its TriggerTV technology in September 2003 with
Turner Broadcasting's Cartoon Network.
