Directors' Notification of Dealing in Shares

Anglo-Welsh announces that on the 28 July 2000:

Stephen Thomson, Executive Chairman, and Mike Hill, Finance Director, were
each granted options over 62,286 ordinary 10p shares in Anglo-Welsh plc under
the approved employee share option scheme.  

In addition, Mr. Thomson was granted options over 83,322 ordinary 10p shares
under the unapproved executive share options scheme.

All these options are exercisable at a price of 46.5p per ordinary share.
