THE MERCHANTS TRUST PLC-VOTING RIGHTS AND CAPITAL


This replaces the announcement made by the company on 29 December 2006 under RNS
78720 and has been corrected by the inclusion of the company's Cumulative
Preference Shares.


In conformity with the Transparency Directive's transitional provision 6 we
would like to notify the market of the following:
