The Company announces that on 14 June 2001, pursuant to the passing of the
resolution at the extraordinary general meeting of the Company held on 7 March
2001, it purchased from the market 2,016,390 of its own ordinary shares of 10p
each at a price of 27.5p per share.



Following the above purchase there are now 66,074,390 ordinary shares in
issue.
