REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES FOR CANCELLATION

The Mercantile Investment Trust plc today purchased 479,010 ordinary shares for cancellation at 925.83 pence per share.

Following the transaction the remaining shares in issue total 100,415,719.
