REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES FOR CANCELLATION

The Mercantile Investment Trust plc today purchased 25,000 ordinary shares for cancellation at 834.00 pence per share.

Following the transaction the remaining shares in issue total 101,862,968.
