New Director

The Board of The Fleming Mercantile Investment Trust plc are pleased to
announce the appointment of Lord Jonathan Rothermere as a non-executive
Director with effect from 22nd November 2001.

Lord Rothermere is currently Chairman of the Daily Mail and General Trust plc
and a director of Euromoney Institutional Investor plc.
