                                 CHANGE OF NAME


Further to the AGM announcement released today, the Company announces that The
Registrar of Companies has issued the certificate of incorporation on change of
name and therefore the name of the Company has been changed to The Mercantile
Investment Trust plc with immediate effect.



The ticker code by which the Company's shares will trade will be 'MRC' with
effect from 2nd May 2008.
