                           Statement re press report

Further to a report in yesterday's Financial Mail on Sunday, Serge Crasnianski,
Chief Executive, states that he has no present intention of selling any of his
holding in the Company, comprising 69,143,070 shares (19.1% of its issued share
capital). Dan David, non-executive Chairman, who is not involved in the
day-to-day business of the Company, may or may not wish to sell some of his
holding, comprising 65,787,310 shares (18.1% of PMI's issued share capital), the
beneficial interest in which is held by the Dan David Foundation, during 2003.
