                             Purchase of own shares


McBride PLC ('the Company') announces that on 1 March 2005, it purchased through
Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein 200,000 of its ordinary shares at 160p per share.
The Company intends to hold these shares in treasury.


Following the purchase of these shares, McBride plc holds 525,000 ordinary
shares in treasury and has a total of 175,796,713 ordinary shares (excluding
treasury shares) in issue.
