    Notification of Interest in Shares under Section 198 Companies Act 1985


McBride PLC was today notified that, as at 11 April 2005, AXA S.A. and its Group
Companies are interested in 15,540,657 ordinary shares in the Company
representing 8.70% of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.


These shares are represented by a beneficial interest of 5,358,345 ordinary
shares (3.00%) and a non-beneficial interest of 10,182,312 ordinary shares
(5.70%).
