Martin  Currie  Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 7 October 2009,  bought  back
250,000  ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  113.74p  per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 119,487,330 ordinary shares remain in issue.
