Martin  Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 2 December 2009,  bought  back
50,000   ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  112.75p  per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 118,125,797 ordinary shares remain in issue.
