Martin  Currie  Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 20  July  2009,  bought  back
10,000   ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  98.00p  per  share  for   immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 122,131,673 ordinary shares remain in issue.
