Transaction in own shares - 12 January 2006
Martin Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 12 January 2006, has bought
back 22,000 ordinary shares at a price of 107.0455p per share for immediate
cancellation. Following this purchase 151,718,930 ordinary shares remain in
issue.
