The following information is given subsequent to the announcement made on 10
January 2006 that David Michels is to be appointed a non-executive director of
Marks and Spencer Group plc on 1 March 2006.


In accordance with paragraph 9.6.13 (1) of the Listing Rules, David Michels has
advised that he is currently a director of Hilton Group plc and The British Land
Company plc.  In addition, he has been a director of Arcadia Group plc
(de-listed September 2002) within the last five years.


In accordance with paragraph 9.6.13 (2) - (6) of the Listing Rules, he has
advised that he has no details to disclose.
