                           Purchase of Own Securities


Man Group plc announces that on 20 August 2007 it purchased for cancellation
1,500,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 471.95 pence per ordinary share.


Since the start of the financial year on 1 April 2007, Man has repurchased
44,860,018 ordinary shares at a total cost of £251.4 million, giving an average
repurchase cost of 560.43 pence per ordinary share.
