                           Purchase of Own Securities

Man Group plc announces that on 27 July 2007 it purchased for cancellation
4,000,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 566.34 pence per ordinary
share.

Since the start of the financial year on 1 April 2007, Man has repurchased
23,360,018 ordinary shares at a total cost of £137.2 million, giving an average
repurchase cost of 587.40 pence per ordinary share.
